About the event
Piper Alpha Case Study. On the night of July 6, 1988, a sequence of explosions devastated the Piper Alpha platform in the North Sea. Consumed by flames, the majority of the oil rig's topside modules fell into the sea over the following hours. A total of 167 men lost their lives, with many others injured and traumatized.
The insights gained are relevant not only to the offshore oil sector but also to all hazardous industries, and they remain just as pertinent today.
